New X1 Ship Designs

Generic X1 Ship Details

Costs, Crew, and YIS Dates

Larger X ships are even more expensive than as listed in C19.10 (+20%). Count converting or building SC2 hulls against the SC3 limits.

Note that the BCHX is an X tech version of an empire's heavy battle cruiser (with a command rating of 10, and larger than their NCA/CA/BC class). Some empires have a heavy battle cruiser that is listed as a BC. Some empires have a BC which is their alternative name for their heavy cruiser and not a BCH. At least a one empire has a BCH in all but name that has a command rating of 9 instead of 10.
Note that the YIS dates above assume conventional X1 YIS dates of the early Y180s. None of the new X1 types above is available before the empire can build SC3X hulls.

Stacking

X1 CVs and Escorts

Example: The UFP wants to upgrade their CVAs to X tech. They would need several projects:

  1. DNX. Once completed the hull would only be available in Y187 and later.
  2. CVAX. This design would be available in Y190.
  3. NAEX. This is their heavy escort.
  4. DWAX. This is another escort.

Assume some "brilliant" Gorn cost cutting bean counters find that the UFP has a handful of OCA's and decide to use the already paid for hulls for X escorts instead of the NAEX:

  1. DNX. Once completed the hull would only be available in Y187 and later.
  2. CVAX. This design would be available in Y190.
  3. OCAE. This is the escort version of the OCA.
  4. OCAX. This is the X tech version of the OCA.
  5. OCAEX. This is their heavy escort.
  6. DWAX. This is another escort.

As the above examples show, new X CV types require some forethought as the R&D costs (and delays) can rapidly add up.
